Then, for art, we used shoeboxes to recreate the interior and exterior of a Georgian house, using the photos to help us. Some people decided to create a tenement house, while others decided to create a luxurious house. Check out some of the photos below.
In February, 4th Class had been learning about life in Ireland during the 1900s as part of history. As part of our learning, we learned about the Georgian houses in Dublin. We learned that at first, many wealthy people lived in these houses. We also learned that over time, many of these houses became tenement houses where the occupants lived in cramped, unhealthy conditions. We looked at various photos and we also heard some stories of the people who lived in these houses. Then, for art, we used shoeboxes to recreate the interior and exterior of a Georgian house, using the photos to help us. Some people decided to create a tenement house, while others decided to create a luxurious house. Check out some of the photos below.

4th Class have been learning about Ancient Egypt. As part of our learning, we made lovely clay cartouches, using hieroglyphics for our names.
Last week, we made gorgeous winter snowflakes. First, we used white oil pastels to draw out snowflakes on our pages. We then used blue, purple and green watercolours to paint over the snowflakes. The results were very effective!
We have been learning lots of Gaeilge poems and songs this year. Here are 4th Class reciting a poem called 'Mo Phóca' (translation below!)
Mo Phóca Cad atá agamsa i mo phóca? Dhá ubh agus subh agus feadóg. Milseán is luch bheag Agus úll agus frog Agus lámhainní beaga gan ordóg. Cad atá agamsa i mo phóca? Pictiúr agus cnaipe geal glé. Cnámh 's mirlín Agus cloigín bog binn A thug mo Mham domsa inné. My Pocket What do I have in my pocket? Two eggs and jam and a whistle. A sweet and a small mouse And an apple and a frog And small gloves without a thumb. What do I have in my pocket? A picture and a bright button. A bone and a marble And a sweet soft bell That my mum gave me yesterday. Check out the lovely artwork that Sarah's 4th Class have completed since the start of the year!
Leaf print pictures Mexican Day of the Dead Skeletons Autumnal birch trees Rainy day umbrellas Northern lights chalk pictures Spooky pictures This week, we created lovely art using leaves and paint. The children used sponges to make prints of different leaf shapes. They then painted the leaves the make prints of the leaf patterns. They used a variety of autumn colours and made sure to fill in all of the white spaces on their pages. Check out the photos below.
Welcome to 4th Class!
For now, PE will be on Mondays and Thursdays. Please ensure that the children wear appropriate footwear on these days. Homework will not be on Seesaw this year. Homework tasks will be written down by the children in their homework journals. The items that they will need will be in their homework folders. Please let me know if you have any questions about this. We are easing the children into homework this year. It will increase slightly over the coming weeks. Please ensure also that appropriate rain gear has been sent into school and that it is labelled clearly with the correct name. We will be going outside in all weathers, except when there is a weather warning. Thanks, Sarah Here are some photographs from our 3rd class sports day. In the morning we had lot's of fun at different stations. In the afternoon we had some competitive races. Rosti and Paudie were winners of our boys race and Sanjana and Maja were the winners of the girls race. They each got a medal at this morning's assembly. |
