We are having a wonderful spring term so far. We have been doing some great learning and have celebrated some fabulous events in our school.
In science, we learned all about light and put our knowledge of shadows to good use! We made a shadow puppet theatre and then put on some wonderful shadow puppet shows based on our favourite fairy tales. We invited Leonie's class to come and watch our shows.

We have been doing lots of reading with our Sixth Class buddy readers. Our buddy readers visit us once a week and we read our books to them. Then they read a story to us. Last week, on World Book Day, we all became authors and started writing mini books with our buddies! We look forward to sharing them with you all when we have finished.
During our PE lessons, we have been improving our gymnastics skills and we have also been doing some Yoga lessons.
We celebrated STEM week during the month of February and really enjoyed the engineering challenge we'd been set of creating a bridge using recycled materials. We worked with our friends to create the bridges and then presented them to the class.
During our Maths lessons, we have been learning all about length. We measured lots of different objects and rooms around the school. It was great fun! We also learned about the different words that describe length.
Instead of Irish traditional Pancake Day this year, we celebrated the polish tradition of Tlusty Czwartek [twoosti tchvartak] in school with delicious paczki (jam doughnuts) treats for every child provided thanks to Parents Association initiative. They were delicious!
This week we have been celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge in our school. We have been collecting golden coins for our classroom. We earned gold coins every time we spoke Gaeilge around the school. On Thursday, it was Lá Glas and we had a parade around the school yard.
Yesterday, we went on our first school outing this year. We went to visit St Mary's Church in Saggart as part of our Learn Together learning. We learned so much about the church and had a great time.
