Yesterday was our trip to the playground and it was fabulous! Check out some of these recounts from the class below.
Written by AarizFirst we went to put our high-vis vest on then started to walk. We had to cross many roads but it was a short walk. After, we got to the playground we dumped our bags on the ground and started playing on the slides, the roundabout, the swings, monkey bars and the climbing frame. Then we had lunch. I had a hot dog, an apple, banana and yoghurt. A few minutes later, I was playing football with Eoin, Grace, Arnav, Pablo, Caleb, Ben and Jane and finally I walked back with my partner Grace. We had our last P.E. lesson yesterday and enjoyed using our equipment for the last time this school year. We have also been learning a little bit about space this week and completed two fun pieces of art. We used crayon and black paint to create our first piece. You use the crayon first and when you apply the paint after, the wax from the crayons resists it. After that, we created some space art using objects from our homes that we used to print shapes. Check them out.
We are having great fun in our classroom! We have been learning about magnets during science and are having fun experimenting with the magnet poles. We learned that the same poles repel each other and the opposite poles attract. We used this knowledge to set up some races using magnets and cars.
This morning during out last whole-school assembly of the year, Caitríona announced the winners of some of the sports day races and some children in our class were awarded with medals for coming first or second in the running races. Congratulations! This afternoon, we are planning to make some short stop motion animation films using objects from our classroom and our school Chromebooks. We can't wait to get started! What a super Friday!
We are having a fantastic Monday! Three lovely things have happened! Firstly, when we arrived at our classroom this morning we were pleased to observe that several of our seeds have started to grow! We now have seven young plants which include, pea plants, carrot seedlings and tomato seedlings. After that, we had even more excitement when Caitríona dropped by with a letter for the class in response to our persuasive letters. Not only was she very impressed with our letters, but she also said yes to our request! We will be visiting the playground with our class! Caitríona has asked us to write a report of our trip afterwards. We are looking forward to our trip. Finally, just before our second break, our whole class got to visit the ice cream van together and get a treat! We were so thankful and enjoyed eating on the grass with our friends before yard. What a lovely Monday!
We have been doing our Stay Safe lessons this term in our class. We have spent this week learning about friendship and how to recognise and stop bullying. To finish off our learning, each pod designed a pod agreement on ways to stop bullying from happening using Jambourd on our chromebooks. Each pod then presented their work and we have joined the agreements together to create a class agreement. Check it out! Wow! We had an amazing day of fun and sports today! We spent the day working on different sports stations outside and having races. It was tremendous fun. Everybody worked really well together and tried their best at the different events. Well done 3rd Class! Pictures from the DayThe Obstacle CourseWe are having lots of fun in our classroom and are very busy learning together! We have been enjoying buddy reading - we even got to do some reading outside! We have also been busy gardening. Each of us gathered some seeds from fruits or vegetables we were eating at home and we are planting them this week in our classroom. We are trying to predict what plants will grow first. Also, we have been having great fun using the Chromebooks! We have been learning how to use Google Classroom and have tried some other programmes like Jambourd and Kahoot. It is great fun. ChromebooksGardeningBuddy ReadingWe have been busy working on writing an important letter to Caitríona. We are trying to use our persuasive skills to encourage Caitríona to let 3rd Class visit our local playground before the end of the school year. We just finished our letters today and are going to deliver them to her now. Hopefully our letters will be persuasive enough! Have a look at our writing journey below. First, each pod worked together to come up with some persuasive reasons as to why we should go to the playground. Then, we wrote our letters one paragraph at a time. We wrote them on whiteboards first and our buddies helped us edit our work before we wrote them into our copies. After writing our letter into our copies, we read through them and made some improvements with our green "polishing" pen. Then we published our letters using our neatest handwriting and decorated them. Finally, we put our letters into a beautifully decorated envelope, ready to be delivered! We had such a fun day on Thursday! We had our in-school school tour and it was fantastic! We spent the first part of morning in our classroom working on a team challenge. Each pod were given mini marshmallows, dried spaghetti and some other optional sticking tools and we had to try to create the tallest tower in the room. It was very tricky and very fun! After that, we went to the hall and had a super drumming lesson. We learned about different types of African drums and played lots of different rhythms together. After our lesson, we spent the rest of the day outside. As well as having two picnics, each of the third classes had their own area of activities to explore and play on. We had a bouncy castle with a slide, an inflatable obstacle course, an inflate penalty shootout area, giant Jenga, giant cannonball and a crazy golf area. We thoroughly enjoyed our day together! Here are some of our videos and pictures. :-) Pictures from the dayAfrican Drumming Performance |
