We had a super day on Sports Day! We played lots of games and we took part in lots of races. We also got a chance to play some parachute games. Check out the photos below!
Last week, we went on our school tour to Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park! We went on a tour of the park where we saw a fairy village and we all made wishes at the Wishing Tree. We went on a train around the park and we saw some animals. We also had lots of fun at the playground. We had a fantastic day! Check out the photos below! Before the mid-term break, the Parents' Association organised a Star Wars themed disco for the school. Thanks to all who organised it - we had a great time! During play rota, we have been playing in 'The Airport'. Check out the aeroplane we made as a class! Teacher did the cutting and everyone got a chance to paint. We did a great job!
On Wednesday, a group from 3rd Class came to visit us with Anita. They had written some lovely stories that they wanted to share with us. We listened to the stories in small groups and we asked some questions. We listened really well and we showed excellent manners. The children from 3rd Class did a great job reading their stories to us - well done!
Last week, we had 'Lá Glas' at school where we all dressed up in green and took part in a parade! We made Irish flags and we marched around the yard to the beat of marching music. We then finished off with a dance. We had great fun! On Tuesday, Caitriona came to visit our class with the baby trolley to teach us all about babies! Caitriona showed us how to tell if a baby is a boy or a girl and to place the babies safely so their nappies can be changed. We learnt to support a baby's head when we are holding them and we also learnt how to feed and wash them. We really enjoyed the lesson - check out the photos above!
In visual art, we have been learning about Andy Warhol who was a leading figure in the Pop Art movement in the 1960s. We looked at some photos of his work and we then created our own Pop Art paintings which was great fun! We used lots of colours and we then made hand shapes which we cut out. We then used black paint to make our own hand prints on the hands. Our art work is very colourful and looks really like Andy Warhol's work. Check out the photos below! We had a very exciting day on Thursday when the Sam Maguire Cup came to visit our school for the whole day!
For those that don't know, the Sam Maguire is the cup awarded to the winners of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, organised by the GAA. Dublin are the current holders of the cup after winning it in 2017. We had seen the cup before briefly in November, but this time the cup came to our class and we were able to get lots of great photos! Check them out below! |
