We celebrated World Book Day on 2nd March by dropping everything and reading (D.E.A.R time). We played games and took part in a quiz related to children's literature. We debated topical matters such as whether or not the offensive words need to be changed in the Roald Dahl books. We even set an alarm at midday and the children had a 'countdown' to celebrate 12.03pm on the 2/3/23 whereby all the numbers aligned in the time and date to read 1232323.

The children took part in a Marathon Kids challenge in Deirdre's 5th class. The children had the opportunity to complete a marathon (26.2 miles) by completing 4 running sessions per week for 8 weeks to build their physical ability together with learning about benefits of exercising, health, wellbeing, nutrition and hydration which will benefit them in all aspects of life. The children teamed up with Olya's 5th class and were awarded a medal and a t-shirt in recognition for completing this programme. The celebrations included a warm cup of hot-chocolate after all their hard work.  We went swimming on Monday 27th February for this first time this year. The children enjoyed the bus journey to the swimming pool by singing their favourite songs such as 'The Wheels On The Bus' and 'Bob The Builder'. They loved pointing out their own homes along the way to each other. The children embraced this wonderful opportunity of learning to or improving their swimming ability with excitement. We had a fantastic day yesterday at Sports Day! We did lots of fun activities like sponge water relays, wheelbarrow races, parachute games, javelin throwing and spud and spoon races. We also took part in basketball and football matches. Later, we had running races and many parents came to watch. Check out the photos below! Throughout May and June, we have been working on our geography projects. Each child chose a country which they then researched using the Chromebooks. They then had to write up their research using at least five headings and then put their projects together in poster format, including some pictures and drawings. They all did a great job! Well done 4th Class! We had a fantastic time on our school tour to Fort Lucan! Check out the photos below. Last week, Rob from Leinster Rugby came in to teach our first lesson in tag rugby. We will be doing tag rugby every week for the next few weeks. We really enjoyed the first lesson.
